Alloy 625 Technical Overview
Inconel 625 (UNS N06625) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with an addition of niobium that acts with the molybdenum to stiffen the alloy's matrix and thereby provide high strength without a strengthening heat treatment. Alloy 625 resists a wide range of severely corrosive environments and is especially resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion. It is used in chemical processing, aerospace and marine engineering, pollution-control equipment, and nuclear reactors. Its outstanding strength and toughness in the temperature range cryogenic to 2000°F (1093°C) are derived from the effects of columbium (niobium) and molybdenum on the nickel-chromium matrix. Steel Emporium provides Grade 625 pipes and tubes in all standard and custom schedules.
