IS 4923 Carbon Steel Overview
IS 4923 is the Indian Standard specification for hollow carbon steel sections used for structural purposes. These are available in three distinct yield strength grades: YST 210, YST 310, and YST 355. Manufactured through Electric Resistance Welding (ERW) or seamless processes, these sections provide a higher strength-to-weight ratio compared to conventional structural steel. They are extensively used in high-load architectural designs, Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEB), and industrial frameworks.
